What is a Notary?

A Notary Public is an official of integrity appointed by state government, serving the public as an impartial witness in certifying the proper execution of many life-changing documents of private citizens.

Be Prepared!

* The document signer(s) requesting the notarization must appear before the Notary Public.

* The signer(s) must present an acceptable primary identification, e.g. valid driver's license, state identification card or passport.

* Be advised that your information and details of the notarization will be recorded in a notary journal.

The most common types of notarizations are:

JURAT a/k/a Verification of Oath and Affirmation: Requires an individual to sign a document in the presence of a notary and take an oath or affirmation attesting to the truthfulness of the contents of the document.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: The main purpose of the acknowledgement is for the notarial officer to "acknowledge" that the signer freely signed the document and to verify that the signature on the documents is that individual's signature.

Fees

* Notarization, mileage and administrative fees are regulated by the State of Maryland.

* Fees will be determined once details of the notarization are established.

* Credit/Debit cards with Visa or Mastercard logo are accepted as well as Zelle and cash.
